The Promise in the Garden

Advent Day 1 of 24 · Genesis 3:8–15 · Read it on December 1.

Adam and Eve had eaten the one fruit God told them not to eat. Now they felt ashamed. When they heard God walking in the garden, they hid behind the trees.

God called, “Where are you?” Adam blamed Eve. Eve blamed the sneaky snake. Sin had broken their friendship with God.

But God did not give up on them. He told the snake that one day a child would come from the woman and crush the snake's head. That was God's very first promise of a Rescuer. His name is Jesus!

Key Verse

I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.Genesis 3:15, ESV
