A Child Is Born

Advent Day 5 of 24 · Isaiah 9:1–7 · Read it on December 5.

Isaiah had more good news. One day God would lift the heavy load off His people's shoulders, and they would be as happy as farmers at harvest time.

How would God do it? Isaiah said, “A child will be born for us! A son will be given to us!” This child would be a King.

He would have wonderful names: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. His kingdom of peace would never end. That child is Jesus!

Key Verse

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Isaiah 9:6, ESV
