God chose a tall, handsome young man named Saul to be the first king.
Saul was out looking for his dad's lost donkeys when he met Samuel. Samuel poured oil on his head and said, “God has chosen you to be king!”
When it was time to show the people their new king, Saul was hiding with the luggage! But they found him and shouted, “Long live the king!”
