King Saul died in a battle, and so did Jonathan. David was very sad and cried for them.
Then all of God's people came to David and said, “You are our king now!” God's promise had come true.
David captured the city of Jerusalem and made it his home. It was called the City of David. God was with David, and he became a great king.
