Joseph's brothers were far away with the sheep. Jacob sent Joseph to check on them.
When the brothers saw him coming, they grabbed him, took his coat, and threw him into a deep, dry pit!
Then they sold Joseph to traders going to Egypt. Joseph was scared and sad. But God was still with him.
