Bible Activities for Kids That Require No Preparation

2026-10-16

You do not need a craft table, glitter or a laminator to help children enjoy the Bible. Here are activities you can start right now with nothing but your kids and a Bible.

Move and act

  • Act it out. Pick a story like David and Goliath or Noah and the ark. Everyone gets a part, even the animals.
  • Freeze frame. Read a story aloud. When you pause, everyone freezes in the pose of a character. Guess who they are.
  • Walk the story. Mark a start and end in your living room. Take a step each time a new event happens.

Talk and think

  • Two truths and a twist. Say three things about the story. One is wrong. Kids find the mistake.
  • Who am I? Give clues about a Bible person and let kids guess.
  • Question of the day. Ask, "If you were in the story, where would you stand?"
  • One word. Everyone says one word that sums up the story, then explains why.

Say and remember

  • Verse whisper. Say the verse in a whisper, then a normal voice, then a shout. Repeat until it sticks.
  • Missing words. Say the verse and leave a word out. Kids fill in the blank.
  • Verse and motion. Make a simple hand motion for each phrase.

Create without supplies

  • Draw it on a back. Trace a picture with your finger on someone's back and let them guess the story.
  • Story chain. Each person tells one sentence of the story, then passes it on.
  • Retell it silly. Retell a story from a different character's point of view, like the donkey or the whale.

Pray together

  • Thank you, God for... Go around and let each person finish the sentence.
  • Prayer walk. Walk through the house and thank God for each room and the people in it.

These activities work at the table, in the car, in a classroom or around a campfire. They are especially helpful for mixed ages. If you want a daily plan to anchor them, Lantern Trail pairs each story with a quick check, a verse game and a prayer so your kids stay engaged and you do not have to prepare a thing.
